Claire’s practice focuses on commercial leasing transactions, including drafting and negotiating retail, office and industrial leases and ancillary documentation, as well as the practical resolution of lease disputes.
Claire received her L.L.B. from the University of the Witwatersrand School of Law (Johannesburg, South Africa), where she graduated with distinction. Prior to law school, Claire obtained her B.A. degree (Psychology and Law) from the University of Witwatersrand.
Claire joined the firm after working as in-house counsel for a real estate investment trust, where she was involved in all aspects of drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related lease documentation for properties across Canada and the United States of America, as well as providing legal support to internal stakeholders at the REIT.
Prior to her call to the Bar of Ontario, Claire worked as a real estate law clerk focusing on all aspects of commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions and financing of commercial properties, and as a commercial leasing law clerk at a major national landlord.
Claire’s background both in-house and in private practice allows her to provide a practical perspective to clients with a view to getting deals done in a cost-effective and timely manner
